Sourdough bread online course – Doughs, Loaves, Flatbreads & Cakes

It’s now been some years since I started baking my own bread at home and I can say it’s been more than rewarding!

To get started, you don’t even need to invest in special equipment, you likely have it all the supplies at home already!

I have developed a technique that functions like a state of the art steam-bread oven with ANY oven! I have tried this technique on ovens that heat with gas only from the bottom, convection ovens, electric ovens, ovens with a funny uneven heating… even over the fire!

In my academy online sourdough course, I take you through the process of making your own sourdough starter, how to make the perfect loaf working through stretching and folding to get big bubbles, or how to use various types of flour: wheat, rye, spelt, teff, emmer…

In the sourdough course, as you start to learn and understand how your sourdough starter acts and behaves with your kitchen environment, you will learn to utilize it (him/her? Perhaps you give it a name!) to make sourdough pizza doughs, chapatis, injera (Ethiopian flat breads), pitas and much more!

Check out the course curriculum here.

Right now we have sourdough bread bakers from all over the world taking the course who are expanding their skills and knowledge on the microbial world and strengthening their microbiomes one stretch & fold at a time.

Alexis is a brilliant teacher whose passion and knowledge shines through everything each and every lesson I've taken with her. As a chef and for my teams, I have broadened my knowledge of ferments, vinegars and bread in taking workshops with Alexis. Not only is her personable style integral for going deeper into theory, but the professional demonstrations also fulfill a need for understanding through practical means. Furthermore, the worksheets and info sheets full in the blanks, but it's also great to know Alexis will answer any question with great detail as well. As a human, sharing a love for food and a curiosity for what more we can do with it has kept a steady flame burning - and I am motivated to keep strong connections to food at home as well. All in all, a skill for life and a motivation to explore is a huge return on investment. No matter if you are a beginner or looking for more challenges and deeper learning, Alexis and Edible Alchemy can certainly provide for both.
